What Is a Pack Walk?
A pack walk is more than simply getting together for a group dog walk. It’s an opportunity for you and your dog to practice calm, structured walking around other dogs and real-life distractions while being guided by a professional dog trainer.
Your dog does not need to be perfectly trained to participate. In fact, pack walks can be a great way to continue building your dog’s skills in a controlled environment.
We’ll focus on:
Loose-leash walking
Engagement and focus around distractions
Calm behavior around other dogs
Following your handler’s direction
Building confidence in new environments
Practicing obedience outside of the home
Learning how to comfortably exist around a group of dogs
Edmonds is a great setting for an urban dog walk, with sidewalks, parks, trails, waterfront areas, and plenty of everyday environmental distractions to help your dog practice real-world skills. Dogs are required to remain leashed throughout Edmonds parks and trails, making this a great opportunity to practice structured leash walking.
Pack Walk Rules
To keep the group safe, calm, and enjoyable for everyone:
🐕 Dogs must remain on leash. Please bring a 4–6 foot leash. No retractable leashes.
🚫 No on-leash greetings. Dogs will maintain appropriate space from one another rather than stopping for face-to-face greetings.
👤 One dog per handler. Each dog needs a person who can actively manage and work with them throughout the walk.
🦴 Bring high-value treats. You’ll want plenty of small, motivating rewards for practicing engagement and obedience around distractions.
💧 Bring water and poop bags.
🧠 Come ready to train! This is a structured, trainer-led walk—not a free-for-all dog meetup or off-leash play session.
Is Your Dog a Good Fit?
Pack walks are a great fit for dogs who are working on:
Leash pulling
Overexcitement around other dogs
Lack of focus outside the home
Impulse control
Confidence in new environments
Calmly passing people and dogs
General obedience and leash manners
Reactive dogs: If your dog is reactive, fearful, or difficult to manage around other dogs, please complete a Walk & Train session with PNW Pack Leader before joining a pack walk. This allows us to establish the skills and management strategies your dog needs to safely participate in a group environment.
Remember: the goal isn’t for every dog to play together. The goal is for dogs to learn how to calmly coexist, walk together, and focus on their handlers.
Why Join a Dog Pack Walk?
Group dog walks provide an excellent opportunity to take your training into the real world. Dogs don’t just need to listen in the living room—they need to be able to listen when there are squirrels, people, dogs, cars, and exciting new smells everywhere!
Our Edmonds pack walk gives you a chance to practice those skills while connecting with other dog owners in the North Sound and greater Seattle area.
Whether you’re looking for dog training in Edmonds, a structured dog walk, leash training practice, dog socialization, or a fun activity to do with your dog, this pack walk is a great way to get out and train together.
