Pack Leader Philosophy

At PNW Pack Leader, we believe in a balanced and relationship-focused approach to dog training that aims at shaping positive behavior and fostering strong obedience through trust, clear communication, and consistency.

Our methods are rooted in understanding each dog’s unique needs and psychology, combining reward-based techniques with clear structure and fair corrections to promote lasting results. Drawing from extensive rescue and shelter work, and with a specialty in helping dogs with reactivity, we’re dedicated to rehabilitating and empowering dogs of all backgrounds, ages, and breeds so they can thrive in their forever homes and beyond.

Why choose a balanced trainer?

At PNW Pack Leader, training starts with one thing: the relationship between you and your dog. My goal isn’t just to train your dog, it’s to teach you how to lead, listen, and communicate clearly so your dog can trust and follow you.

We focus on understanding your dog’s body language, motivations, and emotional state — because behavior always has a reason. When you learn to recognize those signals, you can respond with calm guidance instead of frustration or confusion.

I use a least-intrusive, relationship-first approach, starting with the most natural ways to create structure. That might include rewards, redirection, body language, and clear boundaries. As needed, I’ll introduce appropriate tools or techniques that support communication — never force, never fear.

This approach builds confidence on both ends of the leash. The result? A respectful partnership, a happy dog, and a more peaceful life together.

Hi, I’m Lauriel, the trainer behind PNW Pack Leader.

I’ve worked with dogs of all breeds and temperaments, but what drives my work is helping people understand their dogs better. Training isn’t just about teaching commands, it’s about building a clear, trusting relationship between you and your dog.

My approach is rooted in dog psychology, communication, and body language. I pay attention to the small cues that tell us how a dog is feeling, why they’re acting a certain way, and how to guide them toward more balanced behavior.

I believe in starting with the least intrusive, most natural methods: structure, calm leadership, and positive reinforcement. When needed, I use tools and fair corrections to support clarity and safety — never force or fear. The goal is to build a dog who feels understood, confident, and connected to you.

Most of all, I focus on teaching you how to be your dog’s leader. When you know how to read your dog, respond clearly, and reinforce the right behaviors, lasting change happens. Whether you're working through reactivity, leash manners, or just want a stronger bond, I’m here to guide you through it.
